Pre-Workout Nutrition

It is extremely important to incorporate a pre-workout meal before doing any type of strength training. Here's why: Your pre-workout meal will provide your body with what is needed to ensure the best performance possible. A nice, balanced meal one to two hours before your strength training routine will help you keep your energy levels up throughout your workout and reduce the breakdown of muscle protein. In past years, I did not understand the important role that nutrition plays in achieving desirable results. I would workout on an empty stomach, go all day without eating, and eat huge, unhealthy dinners. I remember thinking at one point. "I've been working out for a year and don't see any changes in my body!" If you are going to take the time to start a workout routine, make sure that you work on getting your nutrition in check. It will equate to at least 80% of your progress. Here are a few meals that I eat before my workouts:

1.) 4 Egg whites and 1/2 Cup Oatmeal

2.) Shakeology and a scoop of protein

3.) 4 0z. Chicken breast and 3 oz. sweet potato

4.) Quest bar if I'm in a hurry!
